Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s high-profile romance has captivated fans since it first became public in September 2023. But did their relationship actually begin much earlier? According to Wes Bergmann, a former reality TV star and Kelce’s former neighbor, the two may have been an item long before the world caught on.

Bergmann, known for his appearances on The Challenge and The Traitors, made the claim during a recent episode of the RHAP podcast. He insists he had inside knowledge well before Taylor Swift’s highly publicized appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games.

His bold assertion? He knew about the relationship six months before Swift was first seen at Arrowhead Stadium.

Travis Kelce publicly expressed interest in Swift in July 2023 after attending her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City. On his New Heights podcast, he admitted he tried and failed to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it. That playful moment seemed like the beginning of their connection.

Still, Swift later confirmed to TIME in December 2023 that they had already started seeing each other shortly after his podcast mention.

 

Bergmann, however, suggests the timeline may have stretched even further back. “I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff,” he said on the podcast. He even attempted to tell co-host Michele Fitzgerald about the budding romance months before Taylor Swift made her game-day debut. “She didn’t believe it. She was like, ‘She only goes for artists.’”

While the exact start date remains unclear, one thing is certain, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce kept their relationship under wraps for a while. Even Kelce’s family wasn’t immediately in the loop. Kylie Kelce, his sister-in-law, recently revealed on Call Her Daddy that she and her husband, Jason Kelce, knew before the public but weren’t clued in immediately.

Whether Bergmann’s claim holds weight or not, it adds another layer to the ever-growing intrigue surrounding one of pop culture’s most talked-about couples. If he was right, Taylor Swift and Kelce’s love story started well before the world knew- and maybe even before they wanted anyone to know.
