Chad Ochocinco may or may not have made a compelling case to become a full-time analyst on ESPN’s “First Take” show, depending on who you ask.

The former Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver appeared as a special guest on the popular “First Take” program with Stephen A. Smith and his “Nightcap” podcast co-host, Shannon Sharpe. And boy, did Chad Ochocinco leave quite the impression.

Speaking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine last week, Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter made headlines when he claimed that playing two positions in football (as he does) is more difficult than impressive than what Shohei Ohtani (pitcher and hitter) does in baseball.

Chad Ochocinco personally disagreed with Hunter’s statement, but he expressed that opinion in a rather bizarre way.

“The two most difficult things in life are hitting a baseball and keeping a woman happy long term,” Ochocinco said.

Social media had plenty of hysterical reactions to Ochocinco’s bizarre claim:

“Why did I let this dude on my show,” one user said with a photo of Stephen A.

“Shanon’s laugh at the end killed me,” wrote another.

“Ocho Cinco going through some things sounds like Also he’s not wrong,” a user said.

“I know molly is fuming at that statement lmao,” quipped another.

“Hunter probably can’t hit a curveball…..but let me see Otahni go across the middle to catch a pass,” a fan said.

“Swing away Chad… swing away,” said another.

Ohtani has emerged as the face of professional baseball because of his generational two-way talents. Earning comparisons to the legendary Babe Ruth, Ohtani has dominated on the mound (38 wins, 19 losses and a 3.01 ERA) to go along with three MVP awards, a .282 batting average, 225 homers and 567 RBI.

Hunter was a superstar wide receiver AND cornerback over his two seasons with Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes. Hunter is a consensus top-three prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, though it remains to be seen if he’ll play one or two positions at the NFL level.

Long before his sports media career, Ochocinco was a superstar wide receiver for the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals from 2001 to 2010. He earned six Pro Bowl nods and was named a First-team All-Pro in the 2005 and ’06 seasons, helping Cincy to AFC North division crowns in 2005 and 2009.
