Michael Strahan on the set of ABC's "Good Morning America"

Michael Strahan reportedly plans to leave ‘Good Morning America’ by the summer, marking the end of his eight-year run on America’s popular morning show.

The longtime ‘Fox NFL Sunday‘ analyst has allegedly “had enough” of the program, with sources telling News Nation that he is scaling back his professional commitments to focus more on his family. Strahan’s potential exit follows the emotional journey of his daughter Isabella’s battle with a brain tumor, which was a health scare that has reportedly reshaped his priorities.

Strahan joined GMA full-time in 2016 after a successful stint on ‘Live! with Kelly and Michael.’ He has been balancing his morning television roles with his NFL desk duties on Fox. His reported departure comes as Fox’s NFL coverage is also in flux, with longtime colleagues such as Terry Bradshaw delivering an end date for his retirement. Strahan’s GMA contract was reported to expire this year.

ABC has not verified Strahan’s exit, with some insiders believing his decision could be motivated by his passion for being present for his family after Isabella’s health struggles. If Strahan does walk away from the 7 a.m. morning show, he’ll exit as a key fixture alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

Both GMA and Strahan promoted Isabella’s Life Interrupted: Inside Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Brain Cancer as recently as Jan 30. The one-hour primetime special was produced by ABC News Studios, aired on Feb 5, and featured Isabella’s journey in her own words.

Isabella even appeared on GMA to share her story with Roberts. During the ABC special, Michael explained how scary her medical diagnosis was for him as a father. “As a parent, you’re scared. Oh my, you’re just scared. It never occurred to us that it would be cancer,” he said.

“I’ll be honest with you, just looking at the trajectory at that point of her life. And we have no history of anything bad in the family,” he continued. He admitted to feeling endless nervousness about all medical scans in the future, even 30 years down the line.

Strahan’s reported departure coincided with his being featured on GMA’s Instagram account during the week’s highlights on-air. In a Wednesday video discussing the show anchor’s go-to karaoke song, he put the flash on his phone to dance while singing the 1985 Ready for the World hit “Oh Sheila.”

The former Giants star was part of the Super Bowl LIX Fox broadcast that saw the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. Strahan caught flack during the broadcast for his public affection shown to former Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who immediately became a champion after leaving New York for greener pastures.
