Caitlin Clark wins AP Female Athlete of the Year | AP News

The 2024 WNBA season saw the Indiana Fever end a seven-year playoff drought thanks in large part to the arrival and stellar play of Caitlin Clark. But the team has higher ambitions than simply making the playoffs and they’ve made a number of moves towards that aim.

On Saturday, the Fever made a post highlighting some of the player acquisitions that they’ve made in recent weeks. The players they’ve added include Sophie Cunningham, Jaelyn Brown, Natasha Howard, DeWanna Bonner, Sydney Colson and Brianna Turner.

However, their biggest move by far was bringing back superstar Kelsey Mitchell for another year.

“made moves in free agency 🔥,” the Fever wrote.

Clark saw the post and gave her thoughts on it via her Instagram Story. She didn’t say anything per se, but had this as her caption: “🔥🔥🔥”

That’s a pretty glowing endorsement (no pun intended) from the new face of the franchise.

The moves give the Fever a lot more veteran leadership to pair with Clark, Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.

Fans seem pretty confident that they now have a squad capable of winning a title:

“We winning a championship this year 1000%,” one user wrote on Instagram.

“I hope you ladies are ready to be the face of America’s team. This will be the most epic season The W has ever seen,” wrote another.

“This season will be so important for luring free agents next year. They don’t have to win the chip, but a deep run is a must!”

“Teams going to be dangerous.”

The Fever went 20-20 last season, finishing with more wins than their two prior years combined. The year ended with a trip to the playoffs, only to be ousted by the Connecticut Sun in a two-game sweep.

Indiana marked the start of the offseason by parting ways with head coach Christie Sides and bringing in the woman who eliminated them from the playoffs in the first place: Ex-Sun head coach Stephanie White.

They enter the season as one of the favorites to make a massive leap forward.

Have the Fever assembled a team that can win a WNBA title in 2025?
