Jimmy Johnson is done at FOX Sports.
The football icon is retiring after a 30-year spell with the network, with Super Bowl 59 likely the last appearance he will ever make as he refused to take any more time to consider the decision despite appeals from FOX.
Johnson, a two-time Super Bowl winner as a coach. Told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Dave Hyde he’s retiring this Monday.
“I’m done,” the 81-year-old said.
According to Hyde, network officials asked Jimmy to take some time to decide what he really wanted to do, but he was sure he didn’t want to return.
“No, I’m 100 percent sure, I’m done,” he said. “I’m retiring for good this time.”
Johnson said he didn’t intend to work at FOX Sports very long when he joined in 1994, but he’s only now leaving.
Jimmy Johnson Is Due Some Rest & Relaxation

The former player and coach won two Super Bowls as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and spent some time with the Miami Dolphins, having also coached several college programs.
Jimmy Johnson remains an astute businessman and is planning to pursue other ventures in retirement. He also plans to do a bit of fishing, though he isn’t up for cleaning.
His retirement comes at a time when there’s been speculation over FOX Sports going younger with its pregame show. There was talk of replacements coming in for both Johnson and Terry Bradshaw, but that execs asked Johnson to take some time to think suggests they were keen on having him remain.
It’s been a long run for Jimmy, who has been involved in football since the early 60’s. He’s finally set for some well-deserved rest.
We wish him all the best in retirement.
