Angel Reese is no stranger to criticism, but that doesn’t mean she’ll just let it slide every day of the week.
Despite averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie in the WNBA, Reese has dealt with a lot of online trolls over the past few months. Most of them have been critiquing her offensive skillset, saying she’s incapable of finishing in the paint. Some have even accused her of being a double-double machine strictly because she rebounds her own misses. She addressed that narrative after setting a new single-season rebounding record in the pros last September.
“Offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds is something I know I can always do, I knew it was going to translate right away, and that’s something that a lot of players don’t want to do,” Reese said. “A lot of people think it’s because I get my own rebounds, but statistically it’s not. A lot of people think it’s because I’m the tallest on the court when I’m not the tallest on the court.”
Unfortunately for Reese, yet another narrative surrounding her game has surfaced on social media. This time around, it’s about her college career.

A video of Reese’s college highlights went viral along with the caption: “Angel Reese when she was at Maryland before her injury.” For those who don’t know, she suffered a Jones fracture in her right foot when she was a freshman.
That being said, the highlights of Reese that are trending on X were actually after her surgery. She made sure to fact check people on Thursday.
“Y’all literally don’t do y’all research. this wasn’t before my injury so stop with the narrative lmfaoo,” Reese wrote.
Whether fans like her or not, they can’t discredit Reese’s work ethic. She’s been putting in the work this WNBA offseason.
Reese put on a show last week for Rose Basketball Club, finishing with with 22 points and 21 rebounds in a win over the Lunar Owls. She became the first player in Unrivaled history to have at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game.
WNBA fans won’t see Reese back on the court for the Sky until May.
