The Phoenix Suns celebrated Women’s Empowerment Month by honoring female athletes and their contributions to sports. As part of the celebration, the team shared a video of their players naming their favorite female athletes. While many players highlighted legendary figures in women’s sports, Kevin Durant was different in his answer.

Angel Reese recently registered a double-double and helped her team, Rose BC, reach the playoffs in Unrivaled. The Suns shared a video clip of the players in the practice area. Durant was spotted walking idly while he was asked about his choice.

Angel Reese,” Durant said.

Durant’s choice instantly sparked discussion, as he did not elaborate on why he picked Reese. However, the LSU standout turned WNBA rookie has undeniably made an impact on the game. Alongside fellow rookie Caitlin Clark, Reese has elevated the WNBA’s popularity and fan engagement.

Durant and Reese were seen sitting together during last year’s exhibition game between Team USA women’s basketball and Germany. With Durant being one of Team USA’s most prominent figures and Reese making headlines in the women’s game, their appearance together fueled dating rumors.

Reese, however, was quick to shut down the speculation. During an episode of her show Unapologetically Angel, she addressed the topic directly.

“No, that was never a thing,” Reese said.

Stephen A. Smith Calls On The Thunder To Bring Kevin Durant Back For A Title Push

NBA insider Shams Charania recently reported that Durant and the Suns would work together on a potential trade if Phoenix decided to move him. After the news, Stephen A. Smith passionately argued that the Oklahoma City Thunder should consider bringing Durant back if their current roster falls short this season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder should go and get Kevin Durant back. If you lose this year, if you don’t get it done this year, they should go back and get Kevin Durant. They’ve got so many assets, they have stuff to give away. They can’t possibly use all of them,” Smith said.

Durant’s name entering trade discussions isn’t surprising. The Suns have been in a downward spiral, going 2-8 in their last 10 games. If the Suns fail to turn things around, it’s becoming increasingly likely that Durant could seek a new opportunity elsewhere.
